The International Council of Creators of Dramatic, Literary and Audiovisual Works will once again reunite in the city of Seoul, next July 1st to the 3rd, Republic of Korea, to celebrate its W&DW – Writers and Directors Worldwide Annual Congress and continue strengthening author’s rights in the entire world.
After the successful W&DW Annual Congress, held in March 2019 in the city of Moscow, Russian Federation, Directors and Audiovisual Screenwriters will meet this year in South Korea, when the host society will be DGK – Directors Guild of Korea – will receive the worlwide Authors in their city, an important audiovisual center of the world. Having already signed a MoU (Memo of collaboration and understanding) with the FESAAL – Federation of Latin American Audiovisual Authors’ Societies, the DGK is set to host the meeting of the authors from all over the world grouped in the council of creators of dramatic and literary audiovisual works.
Both, JASRAC – Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers and KOMCA – Korea Music Copyright Association, will support this annual meeting being historic in support of South Korean authors in their fight for their legitimate right: the author’s rights. DGK brings together renowned directors of the Korean cinematographic industry, and on this past October 27th. Korean cinema embraced the 100th. Anniversary of its first released film. Today, DGK is headed towards becoming a CMO which protects Korean author’s rights in their country and the world.
As usual, W&DW will propose new objectives for the future, but always focusing in societies which need support to become consolidated CMO and in those countries which still do not count with a law which protects a fair remuneration for their directors and screenwriters through Author’s Rights.
